David Bowie’s legendary turn as Jareth the Goblin King returns to vinyl in a newly remastered 40th Anniversary Crystal Edition of the Labyrinth soundtrack — a release that brings one of Bowie’s most iconic screen roles back into the spotlight. Shipping April 17 in the US, the Crystal Edition arrives the day before Record Store Day but is not an RSD title, standing instead as a dedicated anniversary celebration.

The soundtrack, long out of print on vinyl, is newly remastered and pressed on 1LP crystal‑clear vinyl, echoing the film’s signature crystal‑ball imagery. A Standard Edition LP will also be available. Both editions revisit the 1986 soundtrack created for Jim Henson’s fantasy film starring Bowie and Jennifer Connelly.

Labyrinth was the second of three soundtrack projects in which Bowie played a central creative role. The album blends Bowie’s original songs — including “Magic Dance,” “As the World Falls Down,” and “Underground” — with Trevor Jones’ atmospheric score. Jones’ compositions are presented in six movements on the album: “Into the Labyrinth,” “Sarah,” “Hallucination,” “The Goblin Battle,” “Thirteen O’Clock,” and “Home at Last.”

The film follows Sarah, a 16‑year‑old girl who must navigate a magical labyrinth to rescue her baby brother after her wish for him to be taken away is granted by Jareth, the Goblin King. Bowie’s performance remains one of his most enduring pop‑culture legacies, blending theatricality, music, and myth.
