The 1990 Sound+Vision reissue campaign brought Bowie’s classic albums back into circulation with fresh remastering and upgraded packaging. Aladdin Sane, long regarded as one of Bowie’s defining early‑Seventies statements, returned in a new LP edition with a gatefold sleeve and renewed attention to its sonic detail.

Released in the UK as part of EMI’s Sound+Vision series, this 1990 edition offered a remastered presentation of the original 1973 album. A cassette edition was issued simultaneously, mirroring the LP running order, along with a CD version.

🔘 The Story

Issued in 1990 as part of EMI’s Sound+Vision reissue programme, this edition of Aladdin Sane presented Bowie’s 1973 classic in a newly remastered form. The LP arrived in a gatefold sleeve, reflecting the premium packaging approach of the series, and restored the album’s original sequencing across its two sides.

The release brought renewed attention to the album’s blend of glam‑rock swagger and avant‑pop experimentation, from the frenetic title track to the swaggering “The Jean Genie” and the torch‑lit drama of “Lady Grinning Soul.” The remastering aimed to give the recordings greater clarity while preserving the character of the original mixes.

A cassette edition was issued alongside the LP, offering the same tracklist in a portable format. Together, the two formats formed part of a broader archival effort to reintroduce Bowie’s catalogue to a new generation of listeners in the early 1990s.
