THE STORY 

Gasoline Alley was recorded between February and April 1970 at Morgan Studios in London. It blends Stewart’s original compositions with carefully chosen covers. The album showcases Stewart’s developing signature raspy vocal style and his strong connection with Faces members, particularly Ronnie Wood.


CONTEXT & NOTES 

This US edition features different artwork from the UK version, showing a striking cobblestone street scene with a manhole cover. The album received strong critical acclaim and peaked at No. 27 on the US Billboard 200. It helped solidify Rod Stewart’s reputation as a major solo artist while he was still active with Faces.
