THE STORY

Released in May/June 1972, “Metal Guru” was the lead single from the album The Slider. Recorded in France with overdubs in London, the song features Bolan’s signature boogie riff, orchestral strings, and catchy chorus, quickly becoming a glam rock anthem.


CONTEXT & NOTES

“Metal Guru” topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks and was a major hit across Europe and Australia. It perfectly encapsulated the height of T. Rextasy in 1972. The Australian release features the purple label with red T. Rex logo seen in the images.
