Article Text:

THE NEW YEAR opens with rumours about the status of Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson/Mott the Hoople and David Bowie not all of them in relation to each other..

But still... reliable sources have said that the other members of Mott (that means not Hunter and Ronson) will form their own band, possibly called the Hooples, as soon as they find a lead singer.

Meanwhile, plans are under-way for Ian Hunter's solo care-er, including some concerts in the States. (The Metropolitan Opera House was mentioned as a possible venue, although it seems hard to believe.).

Ronson's solo album is still being held up here - one assumes that Main Man doesn't want it out until Ronson is on tour with Hunter somewhere, so they can make some money. More of MainMan: Tony DeFries is vacationing on some island with Dana Gillespie; star artist David Bowie is still holed up in the Hotel Pierre in New York, playing with his videotape machines.

New Year's Eve was a quiet one for Bowie; wife Angie re-turned to England, leaving son Zowie with governess Marion and daddy. Zowie was to have gone to Central Park with Cherry Vanilla at midnight to see the fireworks display, but David kept him inside because of the sleet and rain.

David is rumoured to be quite pleased that he is being left alone by the Main Man management and the feeling might be mutual. Of course, one always hears these rumours

that Bowie isn't happy for one reáson or another, and then everything gets smoothed out. Anyway, David is looking for a loft in Soho (perfect) so that he can live and work in New York. Angela already has her own apartment close to the Hotel Chelsea she often stays there when in New York.
