A full-page 1978 magazine advertisement promoting David Bowie’s live double album Stage, presented with the bold headline “DAVID BOWIE STAGE” and a striking green-tinted live portrait of Bowie performing on stage. The advert described the album as “a vivid and eventful evening,” highlighting over sixty minutes of continuous music drawn from Bowie’s 1978 Isolar II World Tour. It also featured praise from John Rockwell of The New York Times, who called the release “one of the highlights of the year,” reinforcing the album’s critical importance.
The layout combined strong visual impact with detailed promotional text, including a full track listing that spanned material from Ziggy Stardust, Station to Station, and the Berlin trilogy. Produced by David Bowie and Tony Visconti, the album was issued by RCA under catalogue number TVC 16. The advert positioned Stage as both a major live document and a definitive record of Bowie’s late-1970s performance style.
