Released on 29 June 1973, the single reached No. 7 on the UK Singles Chart. It became a staple of Elton’s live shows and remains one of his most recognisable rock tracks.

Bernie Taupin drew his inspiration from his wild teenage years and the bar brawls at his local pub, the Aston Arms in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.
