THE STORY

Recorded between November 1968 and April 1969 at Dick James Music Studios and produced by Steve Brown, Empty Sky was Elton John’s first full-length release. It showcases the early John/Taupin collaboration, with “Skyline Pigeon” becoming the standout track.


CONTEXT & NOTES

The album received positive reviews but modest commercial success on initial UK release. It gained significant popularity when reissued in the US in 1975, reaching the Top 10.
