THE STORY
“The Stroll” / “Jubilee” was released on June 17, 1977 on Warner Bros. as the debut single by Roy Wood’s new jazz-rock oriented band after the split of Wizzard. Produced by Roy Wood himself, the single reflected his desire to move into more progressive and jazz-influenced territory. Though it did not chart, it remains a fascinating chapter in Wood’s eclectic career.
CONTEXT & NOTES
The single was taken from the band’s only album Super Active Wizzo. Wizzo Band played just one major live show (broadcast by BBC) and disbanded in 1978 after limited commercial success. The UK pressing features a beautiful illustrated sleeve with palm trees.
