THE STORY Mungo Jerry released “Open Up” as both a standard 7" single and a four-track EP on May 21, 1972. The release entered the UK Singles Chart and climbed to a peak of No.21, spending a total of 8 weeks on the chart.

Following their massive 1970 hit “In the Summertime”, this was one of Mungo Jerry’s strongest follow-up releases. The EP format allowed fans to get four original Ray Dorset compositions, helping maintain the band’s momentum in the early 1970s.
