BACKGROUND

Queen Budapest celebrates the 40th anniversary of one of the most significant concerts in Queen's history. Captured on July 27, 1986 at Budapest's Népstadion during The Magic Tour, the performance marked a groundbreaking moment as Queen became the first Western rock band to perform behind the Iron Curtain during a period of major cultural and political change.

The concert attracted 80,000 fans inside the venue, while an estimated 45,000 additional listeners gathered outside. Fans travelled from across Eastern Europe, including Russia and Poland, to witness the event.

This release presents the concert on vinyl for the first time and features newly remixed audio sourced from the original multitrack recordings, delivering the most immersive presentation of the performance to date.

RECORDING

Recorded live at Népstadion, Budapest, Hungary, on July 27, 1986 as part of The Magic Tour.

The release features newly remixed audio taken directly from the original multitrack recordings.

The concert documents Queen during the final year of their touring career with Freddie Mercury. Following the Budapest performance, the band would play only five more concerts before concluding The Magic Tour at Knebworth Park on August 9, 1986.

STYLE & THEMES

The performance showcases Queen at the height of their live powers, combining stadium rock, theatrical showmanship and audience participation with the band's diverse catalogue.

The setlist spans much of Queen's career, featuring major hits, acoustic moments, rock and roll covers, Freddie Mercury's celebrated vocal performances and Brian May's guitar showcase.

The concert captures the atmosphere of one of the most important live events of Queen's career while documenting a unique moment in European cultural history.
