Roxy Music’s explosive debut single, “Virginia Plain”, introduced the band’s distinctive art-glam sound and became a major hit, reaching No. 4 on the UK chart in 1972. This Japanese pressing was released in 1975.

Standard Japanese sleeve insert with lyrics printed on the back. Available in both commercial and demo versions. Features “VIRGINIA PLAIN” on the A-side and “PYJAMARAMA” on the B-side, with Japanese text on the sleeve.

CONTEXT AND NOTES

Originally released in the UK in August 1972 as Roxy Music’s debut single. This Japanese edition came later. The song was not on the original UK debut album but added to reissues. It features a surreal lyric referencing cigarette packaging, Baby Jane Holzer, and Robert E. Lee.
