CONTEXT AND NOTES

The concerts took place at the height of Ziggy-mania. The venue was changed to the Rollarena because it better suited Bowie’s theatrical style. The shows occurred just days before the famous final performance as Ziggy at Hammersmith Odeon. In 2023, a major exhibition titled There’s a Starman Waiting in the Sky at Leeds City Museum marked the 50th anniversary. It featured an extensive collection loaned by an anonymous local superfan, including rare early singles from 1966, albums, tour memorabilia, pin badges, clothing, and a standout handmade cabinet of custom Lego figurines representing Bowie’s many personas. The collector had become a fan at age 12 after seeing Bowie’s “Starman” performance on Top of the Pops in 1972.
