A fully autobiographical concept album chronicling the early struggles and rise of Elton John (Captain Fantastic) and Bernie Taupin (the Brown Dirt Cowboy). Produced by Gus Dudgeon at Caribou Ranch, it includes the classic hit “Someone Saved My Life Tonight.”
CONTEXT & NOTES
The original 1975 LP was a massive success, debuting at No. 1 in the US and reaching No. 2 in the UK. Later reissues include the 2005 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (with live disc from Wembley Stadium, June 21, 1975) and the 2025 50th Anniversary Edition featuring demos and additional live performances.
